Quad bikes for every rider and every surface

The ATV section gathers everything on four wheels that is built for ground rather than tarmac: 800-watt electric quads sized for a six-year-old, 125 cc petrol machines for teenagers, 200–250 cc utility models for forest tracks and full-size 4x4 units with a locking differential. They differ in engine, weight and gearbox, but share the same idea — a low centre of gravity, wide tyres and a chassis that keeps working where a motorcycle would already be stuck.

How the section is organised

We split the range by the rider rather than by the badge, because age and body weight decide far more than the manufacturer. Children's ATVs run on 36–48 V batteries, are capped around 25 km/h and have a parental speed limiter. Teenage quads step up to 125 cc petrol engines and 1000–1500 W electric drives. Off-road models such as the Mikilon Y65 PENTORA 250cc, TaoMotor Warrior 200cc and QMC Hummer 200cc carry an adult plus luggage. Four-wheel-drive machines — the LINHAI 370 and 500 Promax with a 492.8 cm³ engine — are the working end of the catalogue. Alongside them sit the UTV Garron EV60 and the Powerland Tachyon electric quad.

• Engine or motor. Petrol means range and refuelling in minutes; electric means silence, no exhaust and charging from a domestic socket.
• Rider weight. A machine that is too heavy is genuinely dangerous — a child cannot correct it in a slide, and a light quad squats under an adult.
• Transmission. Automatic and CVT let a beginner concentrate on the line; a manual gearbox gives more control on long climbs.
• Wheels and suspension. Ten-inch rims and long travel absorb ruts; small wheels are only comfortable on packed ground.

Petrol or electric

Petrol still wins on a full day in the field: a nine-litre tank outlasts any battery and a jerrycan restores range in a minute. Electric wins everywhere noise and fumes are a problem — a fenced yard, a campsite, a farm, an estate with close neighbours. Which engine size suits a first adult quad?

Two hundred cubic centimetres is the practical starting point. It carries an adult with luggage, pulls up a wet slope and still forgives a clumsy throttle hand. Two hundred and fifty cc adds speed and torque for two-up riding; below 150 cc an adult machine runs out of breath as soon as the ground goes uphill.

Does an ATV need registration?

It depends on the model and on the country of use. Machines sold as off-road-only equipment are meant for private land, closed tracks and farm work. Road-legal versions come with the paperwork required for registration. Ask our consultants before ordering — the answer changes the documents we ship with the vehicle.
