Two wheels for the track, the trail and the city
The motorcycle section covers three quite different kinds of machine. Petrol crossbikes and minicross models — the QMC Prime 17/14 125cc with 9.3 hp and 65 km/h, and the QMC DB 701A 49cc with 3.5 hp — are built for dirt, jumps and closed tracks. Electric city bikes such as the Otto bike MCR-HUB at 5.7 kW and 99 km/h and the Land Moto District street at 11.5 kW on a 72 V 20 Ah pack are made for commuting. Between them sit lighter electric machines: the Miku Super Sunra at 3000 W, the e-boost Street on a 72 V 40 Ah battery and the QMC ECO Rider 36V 1000W minicross.
Choosing by wheel size and weight
On a dirt bike the wheel pair tells you who it is for. A 17/14 combination, as on the QMC Prime, suits a teenager or a small adult and keeps the seat within reach. Larger wheels raise the seat and the ground clearance and only make sense once the rider can hold the bike up on a slope. The 49 cc minicross class is deliberately small and slow — the point is to learn clutch, throttle and body position without speed adding to the lesson.
- Two-stroke or four-stroke. Small two-strokes are light and lively; four-strokes pull smoothly and need less attention.
- Suspension. Long travel front and rear is what makes rough ground survivable at any speed above walking pace.
- Kick or electric start. Electric start saves a beginner's leg; a kick lever is a useful backup in the field.
- Road use. Cross and minicross machines are off-road equipment; the electric street models are the road-oriented part of this section.
Petrol or battery
If the bike will be ridden on private land, at a track or on a farm, petrol is still the simplest answer — refuelling takes a minute and a jerrycan extends the day indefinitely. For daily journeys through town, a battery machine is quieter, cheaper to run and needs almost no maintenance; those models are gathered in the electric motorcycle section and appear again among the electric two-wheelers inside our electric transport catalogue. What is the difference between a crossbike and a minicross?
Size and intent. A minicross is a scaled-down machine with a small engine, low seat and short suspension, meant for children and first lessons. A crossbike is full-format equipment: taller, heavier, with real suspension travel and enough power to be ridden hard on a motocross track.
Can these motorcycles be registered for the road?
Cross and minicross machines are supplied as off-road equipment and are intended for private ground and closed tracks. The electric street models are a different case and come with the documents their type approval provides.
