The S2 Booster ES is the familiar 500 W commuter — quick enough for city traffic, small enough to fold under a desk. The S2 GT SL and the S2 GT Sport refine the same concept with better brakes and suspension for riders who cover more kilometres. Then there is the TankTorq TK5, which departs from the formula entirely: two 1000 W motors and a 21 Ah battery pack, built for range and hill-climbing rather than for portability. Between the S2 family and the TK5 you are effectively choosing between two philosophies from the same manufacturer.

Is a light scooter less stable at speed?

A light frame does transmit more of the road and reacts more sharply to potholes, so at higher speeds it demands a more attentive rider. In exchange it accelerates faster, brakes in a shorter distance and is far easier to carry. For city routes with kerbs, stairs and public transport, that trade is usually worth taking. Correct tyre pressure matters more on a light scooter than on a heavy one, because there is less mass to damp out a bad surface — check it weekly rather than monthly.

Which model should I choose for hills?

The TankTorq TK5. Its two 1000 W motors climb gradients that make single-motor scooters overheat and drain their batteries, and the 21 Ah pack absorbs the extra consumption that hill riding causes. If your route is flat and you carry the scooter at either end, the S2 models remain the more sensible choice — the TK5 is considerably heavier and is not designed to be lifted regularly.
